Water Usage

Staggering Statistics

Did you know it takes 3600 gallons of water to produce a single cotton t-shirt and pair of jeans! And, as if that isn’t bad enough it also takes 2 pounds of pesticide to grow the cotton!!! In the US, the typical person uses 80 – 100 gallons of water per day! Less than 1% of the world’s water is fit for human consumption! Dyeing traditional clothes requires between 7 and 75 gallons of water per pound of fabric! That equates to an annual usage of 2.4 TRILLION gallons of water for the amount of dyed materials the world produces! Front load washers are much gentler on your clothes than the traditional top load agitator type machines. Consider the ecological impact as well as saving money on your electric and water bill, and extending the life of your clothes by switching out your current washer with a new high efficiency model. Check out these helpful sites www.water.org , www.unicef.org , and www.mieleusa.com You can actually fill out some forms and get a picture of your water usage footprint.
